Rosario Dawson (1979-) is an American actress, producer, singer, comic book writer, and political activist. She has been appearing in movies for almost a quarter of a century. Her IMDb page shows 97 acting credits since 1995. This page will rank 45 Rosario Dawson movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television roles and movies not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings. This page comes from a request by recent UMR Hall of Famer G. Vandross.
Drivel part of the page: One of my oldest friends, Jeff L., actually got the chance to meet Rosario Dawson. Happy to report that she was amazing off screen. She made HIM feel like the celebrity. This encounter, which happened years ago, has stuck with me all of these years later.

HI BRUCE Your opening write-up about Rosario suggests a highly talented versatile individual. She obviously is sincere in her ideology as a political activist, not only supporting Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders but getting herself arrested in 2004 for publicly protesting against “Dubya” Bush.
I found interesting your revelation that Rosario had once teamed up with Prince and I therefore feel that I have a direct and indirect affinity with her–(1) Obama is a politician whom I personally particularly admire and (2) my Ladd-hating son has been a big fan of Prince.
For once it seems “size DOESN’T matter” as Prince was only 5ft 3 and half inches, which means Laddie would have towered above him! There is a very oblique Dan-like link in all of this in that along with Rosario in Death Proof segment of Grindhouse is Jordan Ladd, the Great Laddie’s granddaughter. Until I saw your co-stars column I hadn’t realised Willis was in Grindhouse – is there anything he HASN’T been in in recent decades?
To my regret I have seen only 4 of Rosario’s movies but liked her in all of them, especially the first in my list which is as follows – Unstoppable, Alexander, 25th Hour, Men in Black 2. 25th Hour is particularly nostalgic for me because I saw it when I visited my brother in Australia in 2007, on which occasion I also watched live Federer playing Andy Roddick at the Australian Open championships, and Jimmy Connors [Roddick’s coach at the time] was seated near my brother and me in the stadium. My viewing of 25th Hour was though bitter-sweet because I watched it as I was killing time before departing for the aircraft home.
You will appreciate therefore that I warmly welcome your Rosario page. IMDB credits her with 11 acting awards and 44 nominations and her net worth is said to be $16 million. “Vote Up!” Thanks by the way for your kind wishes about my holiday.
HI BRUCE
In my previous post I said that Jordan Ladd was Laddie’s daughter in law whereas she was his grand daughter, being the daughter of Cheryl Ladd [of the TV Charlie’s Angels fame] and David Ladd [who as a boy starred with Laddie in the 1957 The Big Land and 1958’s The Proud Rebel].
If you have a moment perhaps you could make the slight amendment – it’s important that this site gets very precise who’s who in the Ladd dynasty !!
Hey Bob….I will have to fix the Ladd error in the morning, currently, I am away from the computer that allows me opportunities to edit comments.
Hey Bob…the error is fixed.
Hey Bob….that is a lot of connections to Rosario and her movies. She and Bruce have 3 movies together…..in none do they appear together. Until your two comments. I did not realize Cheryl Ladd was the daughter-in-law of Alan Ladd. Interesting stuff. Thanks for the tally count. As for Federer…it looks like Father Time might have finally caught up with him. Hard to believe her work with Prince was 20 years ago. Good feedback as always.
HI BRUCE
All’s not lost for Federer yet. He might get a role as an ageing action hero in a part that Arnie, Sly, Brucie and Harrison have all turned down because they thought they were too young for the part!
Good “link” addition about Bruce and Rosario’s 3 movies together. Dan will be thinking that between us you and I are trying to steal his thunder!
Anyway thanks for your feedback and for fixing that Jordan Ladd error. The Alan Ladd dynasty does spread far and wide. There is actually a Diane Ladd but I can’t find any connection between her and the Great Laddie. “Ladd” is such an unusual name [as befits a truly unique guy!] that for years I was under the delusion that Diane was part of Laddie’s wider family.
The “Ladd” in her case seems to derive from her maiden name of “Ladner” and she is the ex wife of Bruce Dern and the mother of actress Laura Dern of Jurassic Park fame. Diane [now 83] and Laura have appeared in several movies/TV productions together. Hey I better stop this or Dan will be Spamming your site or at least my posts!
I’ve only seen 12 of Rosario’s films, I expected more. Favorites are – The Descent, Grindhouse, Sin City 1 & 2, Percy Jackson, The Rundown and Men in Black II.
I have three versions of Oliver Stone’s Alexander on DVD, he shamelessy admitted.
I also own Trance on blu-ray, well worth a look for Rosario and McAvoy fans.
Top Five her highest rated film, um have to admit never heard of it before today. Directed by Chris Rock eh. IMDB gives it just 6.4 and you’ve got it ranked as one of the highest rated movies of all time. A tip from Steve: knock it off it’s pedestal with a 6.4 score and have Sin City at the top. Do it at night when no one is looking, there’s a good chap. 🙂
I enjoyed the trivia, did not know much about Rosario before, now I do.
Nice work as always Bruce. Vote Up!
Hey Steve. Tally count: Me 30, you 12 and Bob with a rare tally count 4. I have seen all of your favorites with the exception of Descent. I loved Sin City, but thought Sin City 2 was pretty weak. I have seen a couple versions of Alexander. That should have been a massive hit. It does have a stellar cast. I looked at Top Five again….the last 5 years have indeed lower it’s review %. It is not the number one movie anymore when sorting by reviews. You see, I do listen…….sometimes.
I have seen 30 of her 45 movies, or two thirds of her movies. Favorites would include, Sin City, Unstoppable, Shattered Glass, Batman LEGO Movie and Sidewalks of New York (always liked Edward Burns….yet he has no UMR page).
Huge fan of her on screen work and her off screen beliefs. I would be surprised to see her make a run for political offices. Lovely and smart, what a wonderful combination. https://www.politico.com/story/2016/04/rosario-dawson-monica-lewinsky-222352
Hey Taylor. Good information on her political possibilities. I agree….”lovely and smart, what a wonderful combination”.
Love her discovery story. Sounds like something from the golden oldie days.
Hey Debra…. I agree, it almost sounds like the Lana Turner being discovered at a drug store story. Thanks for the visit and the comment.
