Hey Francis…..thanks for the comment. It looks like my rankings are very close to your personal favorites. Naked Lunch might be the worst when looking at differences. But even that is only 6 spots. Thanks for the nice words.
I have seen 4 of his movies only, Bruce.
However, 3 of these are in his top 5 movies.
In the order of their rankings, they are;
The French Connection
All That Jazz
Marathon Man
The Russia House
That other top 5 movie that is very famous? I don’t you’d be surprised that I have not seen that movie yet despite the cast. I’ve never been interested in watching movies about sharks. I may see it for the cast eventually, but movies on my to-see list continue to be topped by Klute.
R.S. was a very good actor, however, with the exception of All That Jazz that was inspired by the life of the dancer choreographer Bob Fosse, I don’t recall ever watching one of his movies where he was the only male star. I mean that I’ve seen some movies that are very good films that he was in, but he wasn’t the reason why I watching the movie.
It was either the genre or another performer.
As you know well, I’ve been know to watch movies with favourite stars in movies that I would not otherwise see as well as seeing movies that are my favourite genres even when none of my favourites are in it.
This will shock Jaws fans, but I’ve never been excited by blockbuster movies. There are some extremely famous titles that I’ve never seen. I cannot quite put into words why, but somehow Blockbuster movie is a phrase that for me is code for movies that will interest teenage boys and men in their young 20s….
Flora
Interesting that the last two non-current actors you have done are from long-term requests. Very good.
Hey Flora.
1. Thanks for checking out my Scheider page….he had been sitting on top of my request list for a very long time….possibly even longer than Glenn Ford was.
2. Tally of 4? I am at 13….maybe 14….pretty sure I have seen 2010…just it has been so long since I saw it…that the story has faded from my memory.
3. UMR works….it really works….take that Steve….only 4 movies seen…yet they are all in the Top 5….lol. Doing the happy dance.
4. Actually the shark is not seen too often in Jaws….there are couple scares throughout the movie..but overall it is the performances of Scheider, Dreyfuss and Shaw that make the movie so good.
5. Scheider actually does not really have many leading man roles…looking at the list I would say the number is 8. Granted I have not seen all of his barely in theater movies.
6. Some blockbusters are worth checking out….Jaws is one of them…..then again…I still think I am a teenager….lol. Actually it teenagers and 20 year olds that keep making sure a new Transformer movie comes out every two or three years.
7. The requests keep coming in….sometimes I lose track….of which ones that have been sitting there the longest. Currently I am researching so many performers it is confusing. Found a great Ronald Coleman book (could knock out his page pretty quickly) 3 Film Noir books that list almost every black and white movie ever made, a Joan Fontaine book that is moderately helpful….all the while still searching for Lombard and Colbert movies….not to mention Buster Keaton, Mary Pickford and Lillian Gish. Meanwhile I have about 25 movies for Lorre, Karloff and Warren Oates researched. Then today I got a Stephen King movie request e-mail that looks like almost all of those movies are in the database. Crazy crazy….fun stuff. Thanks for your thoughts on Mr. Scheider.
Thank you. Well, that was worth the wait.

Hey Mike….Sorry it took so long….glad you got a chance to check it out.
Rule two should be Never mess with ANOTHER man’s woman or money.
Hey Donlevy….got it. Thanks for the claification.
Jaws has to be number one! One of the rules I follow in life. One – Never pee into the wind Two – Never mess with other man’s woman or his money and most importantly Three- Never be near a Brody near water.
Hey Donlevy…..I like your rules to follow. I actually just shared it on my Twitter account….very funny. Jaws is 2nd…that is pretty high. The French Connection was a massive hit too…..winning the Best Picture Oscar…as well as getting Scheider one of his two Oscar nominations….those two things give the movie an edge over Jaws. But I agree Jaws is his most famous movie. Thanks for stopping by.
