Drivel part of the page: This Shelley Winters page was requested by Gene S. a very long time ago. Actually we know exactly when we got this request. In May 2015, Gene requested a page on Anthony Perkins. After writing that page….Gene suggested that a page on Shelley Winters would be interesting too. Shockingly…in a blink of an eye…an entire year has gone by….but finally here is Gene’s requested Shelley Winters page.

Hi, Bruce!
Great you finally completed the request for Shelly Winters – another classic actress No doubt that she was with Borgnine in film had something to do with the timing of one after the other.
I have seen the number 1 film: A place in the Sun.
The highest ranked film I have NOT seen is The Diary of Anne Frank. I’m not sure when I will see that movie.
The lowest ranked film I have seen is 59: My Man and I.
I have seen 21 of her films. Most of them are in the top half of the table.
My favourites:
A Place in the Sun
Night of the Hunter
Lolita (yes, I know)
A patch of Blue
Odds against Tomorrow (recently saw for the first time this month during Ryan’s SOTM tribute)
Executive Suite
The Poesiden Adventure
Winchester 73
These are not necessarily in order.
Cheers,
Flora
Hey Flora.
1. Thanks for checking out my latest page.
2. Seems The Poseidon Adventure is showing up in many of my recent pages…John Williams, Borgnine and Winters…..we (Debbie and myself) almost watched it last night….but ended up watching The Sting instead.
3. She is very good in A Place In The Sun…a good movie but not one begging for a second viewing…although Elizabeth Taylor is stunning in that one.
4. My Man And I got the worst reviews of her career….is it that bad?
5. Tally count…you 21….me….counting…18…pretty close…I was actually at 17 after 22 movies…then had to go all the way to #58 Tentacles (a truly horrible movie) to reach 18….I would say UMR Score got the cream to rise to the top on this page.
6. I have seen all of your favorite Winters’ movies (not thinking that happens too often)
7. I would say The Poseidon Adventure, Pete’s Dragon (the kid in me), and Night of the Hunter would be my Top 3.
As always…greatly appreciated your visit, comment and for stopping by….hope you enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend.
Thanks. I have been watching lots of war films.
I just finished watching They Were Expendable. I saw The Battle of The Bulge last night for the first time to cross it off my list of films of several actors. NOT a film I’ll watch a second time. OL
My Man and I really is that bad, although Ricardo is attractive. I have seen Tentacles. I understand Fonda is in it, so……
Hey Flora. Very cool….my father would say that you have been making “wise decisions little grasshopper” when it comes to watching lots of war movies. You are on a roll….sorry you were not impressed with the Battle of the Bulge. Thanks for the mini-review on My Man And I ….I will avoid that one.
At one time Shelley was #8 on the Oracle of Bacon’s top 1000 most connectible stars in Hollywood list and Ernest Borgnine was # 15. Shelley is now #617 but Ernie has held up better he’s still #100. This means Ernie is the 100th most easy person to connect to anyone who ever was in a movie in history (try any obscure person who has appeared in say 1 film and he’ll connect to him in 3 or 4 moves).
Hey Dan….That is interesting about her being number 8…I wonder why she dropped so far? Good that Ernie is still hanging on. I will have to check out that list….I wonder who is the current Top 10. Thanks for the information.

Thanks for the information. Wow Eric Roberts first? That does not make much sense to me. Keitel, Jackson, DeNiro, Sutherland and Caine make a lot of sense….Kier, Trejo, Madsen make no sense. Checking out their math would be very interesting. Kirkland the highest rated woman? Another head scratcher. Again….thanks for these fascinating information.
The whole system is explained on their site, Some people are character actors and there are some I would never even recognize, people in bit parts or even extras as listed on the IMDB. Just look up anyone you don’t know. There’s someone named Arthur Tovey on the list for instance who has credits from the 20’s to the 80’s. I have no idea what he looks like but he has some big films. The Player from 1992 has the most people from the list that connect, over 40. In 2000 it had over 40, lost about 15 people from that list but gained another 10 or 12 on the newer lists.
I will go and investigate their site later tonight. Arthur Tovey? Never heard of him either. Should be interesting to check out. I can see how The Player would have so many people…counting cameos that movie is loaded with stars and Oscar winners. I think it holds the record for most Oscar winners in one movie…and that was before Julianne Moore joined that list for winning for Still Alice. Thanks for the further explaination.
I have been a fan of Shelley Winters for many years. I saw A Patch Of Blue in theaters. I was so glad when she picked up her second Acadamy Award for that one. Highly suggest reading her autobiographies. Shelley Also Known As Shirley is a fantastic read. My favourite Shelley movies? Posidon Adventure, A Place In The Sun, The Tenant and The Night Of The Hunter. Glad I found this page.
Hey Zellner….glad you found my Winters page. I will have to check out Shelley Also Known As Shirley. Your favorites are all good movies……thanks for the visit and the comment.
I am most grateful smile emoticon her career stretched over quite a few genres.
Hey Gene…I am just shocked how fast a year went by….I was busy though…as I generated over 150 movie pages during that year….so who do you want me to do in May 2017?….lol. Glad you like your requested page.
I like fact number 7. I never realized how much bad luck she had in movies. Another wonderful addition to your website.
Hey Gary….I agree it is a very interesting stat….3 of her 4 Oscar nominated performances she gets killed…..and dies of a heart attack in her 4th nomination. I guess if Streep is to accents, and Blunt is to time travel, Reynolds is to body changing….then Winters is to getting murdered movies…thanks for stopping by.
