Great job, Cogerson. You amaze me.
Thank you Wife. Miss you.
Another top job Bruce. The tables are a bit messed up though, my favorite film of hers, El Cid, should easily be her number one box office film but its somewhere in the middle on your charts, something wrong there. Yes I did toggle it this way and that. 🙂 I also read in one of the movie bios that she was the first actress to get paid a million dollars for a film, El Cid, more than lead actor Charlton Heston was paid at the time. I’ve seen 10 of the 30 films you’ve listed. Watched Arabesque a week ago, an attempt to repeat the success of Charade but it wasn’t very good.
Hey Steve….thanks for the heads up on the tables….by trying to include some of the Italian movies I messed up the entire table. Text does not work well with numbers when they are inside a cell together. So I removed those 6 movies from the table and stuck them in the bottom of the page. El Cid is now “King of the World” when it comes to Sophia Loren movies.
My tally is a pretty weak 6. A million bucks for El Cid and more than Heston…that is surprising…especially since Heston was at his peak…after Ben-Hur. I count Arabesque as one of my 6…but I would fail any quiz or test about the movie….as I barely remember that one. Thanks as always for the comment and the visit.
She is without a doubt one of the prettiest ladies to ever walk the Earth. Even at 80 she is still sexy. She made 7 movies with Marcello not 4.
Hey Antonio….I agree she is a very sexy lady. 7 movies with Marcello Mastroianni? That is a pretty impressive number of movies together. I did not list all of her Italian movies…just the ones that helped her get noticed early in her career….and some of the well thought of movies later in her career. I wish I could have done all of her movies….but the information that I need is probably lost forever.
Hello – I have enjoyed her movies. She has played and had some good roles. I enjoyed El Cid with Charlton Heston and Arabesque with Gregory Peck plus other roles. I understand that one of her sons is married to the actress that played Kate in NCIS. Thanks again for another good report. I have seen most of her older movies but not some of the latest ones. THANK YOU.
Hey BERN. El Cid is her chart topper here. Apparently she and Heston did not get along during the filming of the movie. I have seen Arabesque….but I do not really remember much about that one…other than it starred Gregory Peck. Thanks for stopping by.
Nice new page. I have to admit I am somewhat under whelmed when I look at career. This is the resume of the 21st Greatest Female? Don’t get one wrong I like her and I have enjoyed some of her movies. But this list does not have a single classic movie. Some are good but certainly not one of the best female resumes ever! Keep up the good work.
Hey Timlin33. You know as I was researching this page I started to have some of the same thoughts that you mentioned. I think beauty got her noticed…..but her acting ability in her non-Hollywood movies created the “legend of Sophia Loren”. She might be one of the few stars that did not need Hollywood to succeed. Sadly my page really only looks at her Hollywood career….which is probably not the best of Sophia Loren. Thanks for finding my Sophia Loren page.
