Stanley Donen Movies

Stanley Donen (1924-2019) was an American director and producer.   Donen  is best remembered for his many classic musicals like Singin’ In The Rain, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and On The Town. In my world, he is best known for his work with Cary Grant. With Charade being one of my all-time favorite movies.     His IMDb page shows 32 directing credits from 1949 to 2003.   This page will rank 28 Stanley Donen Movies in 6 different statistical categories.    Sadly this page was done after hearing of his passing. Rest in Peace Mr. Stanley Donen.

  1. So many memories of watching his musicals with my mom and grandmother. Makes me miss my grandmother. Rest In Peace. Prayers to his family.

    1. Hey Reynolds…thanks for the Donen thoughts. I got to wondering how many directors that directed Cary Grant are still alive….a quick search shows that Donen was among the last of them. Indeed another connection to the past that is gone. RIP Stanley Donen.

  2. Rip. I will admit I thought he had already passed away. Good career. Love Singing in the Rain and Charade. Sad news.

    1. Hey SteinHoF16……I was in the same boat….as I thought he had passed away as well. Singin’ In The Rain and Charade are all-time classics for sure. Good to hear from you. RIP.

    1. Hey Taylor…..I am not a huge musical fan….but I know enough about that genre to agree with you 100% about him being “great musical minds in movie history”. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Mr. Donen.
