Want to know the best Star Trek movies? How about the worst Star Trek movies? Curious about the Star Trek Movies box office grosses or which Star Trek movies picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Star Trek movies got the best reviews from critics and audiences and which got the worst reviews? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.
This page was originally written as a Star Trek vs Star Wars comparison. Well Star Wars pretty much kicked Star Trek’s butt …… so I figured I would separate these two movie franchises into two pages. This page ranks the 13 Star Trek Movies from Best to Worst. The rankings were determined by looking at box office grosses, critic reviews, audience voting and award recognition. I am also including a second table that looks at all 21 Star Trek/Star Wars movies.
Star Trek Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table
The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.
- Sort Star Trek movies by the Captain of the Enterprise
- Sort Star Trek movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost
- Sort Star Trek movies by adjusted worldwide box office grosses using current movie ticket cost
- Sort Star Trek movies how they were received by critics and audiences. 60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie
- Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Star Trekmovie received.
- Sort Star Trek movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score. UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

Happy 50th anniversary to Star Trek today September 8th.
Today 50 years ago Star Trek debuted.
Interesting that you do not have a William Shatner page along Leonard Nimoy.
Hey Flora…I did a tweet on Star Trek being 50 today….what a great run. Wow…come to think of it…Shatner has never even been a possibility…..besides his Star Trek movies…he does have Judgement at Nuremberg on this resume….thanks for the Trek birthday wishes.
He was also in The Brothers Karamazov as Alexi and in The Outrage.
Maybe in the future he will get his own page….but for now he lives on our Star Trek page. Thanks for the additional Shatner movies.
Just saw and loved the new Star Trek movie.
Funny my name is Scott Morris but it made me Scattered Morris, I kinda of like that.
Hey Scott….if Scatttered Morris works for you….it will certainly work for me…..lol. Glad you enjoyed Star Trek….I also really enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping by Scattered.
I find the funniest thing is that by liking this movie and being old (51 and a Trekkie all my life – used to watch with my grandpa in syndication), and by admitting it on several Star Trek groups on FB, I have been banned from 3 so far, because of this JJ bitterness.
I always find it amazing about how some of those Facebook pages work. I guess I would be banned too…because I agree with you….lol.
Definitely, the best of the new batch (and the new batch has been really good despite the bashing from the anti-JJ crowd) it finally connected the crew in a way that the old series did. McCoy seems like McCoy and so on. The timeline rift seems to have sealed and we feel like we are in Trek again.
Hey Anthony….I agree with your comment 100%…..I loved this movie….a well done movie that recaptures the Star Trek magic. Thanks for stopping by.
I loved it, love the cast, the damn thing moves, want to see it again. Loved the tributes. Great!
Hey Connie…..best Star Trek movie since StarTrekIV The Voyage Home. I am amazed how I now feel the two time lines and crews match. I did not feel that way at all after the first two new movies in the reboot.
