Tab Hunter was always underrated. He was too pretty and over-publicized to get much respect. For the most part he had impossible roles, but had impossible roles, but did surprisingly well in the better ones.

Like Joel’s breakdown of Tab Hunter. Thought I should share it. RIP Mr. Hunter.
Sad news. My Tab Hunter video had a 200 view increase since his death was announced, he has plenty of fans out there.
I’ve only seen 5 of the 25 films on the chart – The Sea Chase, Battle Cry, Track of the Cat, They Came to Cordura and City Under the Sea.
I like the classic Hollywood musicals but I’ve yet to see those Damn Yankees!
RIP and a Vote Up!
Hey Steve…..thanks for checking out our Tab tribute page…..I had forgotten you had a Tab video it is….now on these page as well.
Looks like bob cox is the winner of our tally contest…bob 7, me 6 you 5 and Flora 4. I love baseball….but not musicals….so in the case of Damn Yankees…..like you I have not seen it….I guess I dislike musicals more than I like baseball.
Good stuff. RIP Tab Hunter.
Thanks for the share Bruce, it is appreciated.
Here to help….I imagine there are now 100s of your videos spread throughout our website…and that number keeps growing and growing.
I think Tab Hunter did a great job in “Damn Yankees”. He was virtually the only non-Broadway participant in the movie. So it couldn’t have been easy for him coming in as a stranger and working with this cohesive hit Broadway cast.
He was selected as the box office name for the marquee and he didn’t let Jack Warner down.
Though not not known as a musical star, Tab had top 40 record hits and he was a professionally -trained figure skater– which no doubt helped with some Dance Movement.
Plus his down to earth minimalist approach to the role was perfect.
In this day and age, I think people absolutely forget or maybe they never knew, that Tab Hunter was the biggest youthful matinee Idol from the movies in the 1950s.
BTW– Tab’s ice skating prowess was featured in a TV special in the 1950s. It’s probably somewhere on YouTube.
Hey Princess of Tap….good points about Hunter in Damn Yankees…..I read that he really did not enjoy making that movie…as the director was only interested in doing the stage play line by line. His pop career is pretty impressive. I will have to check out that ice skating. Good feedback.
Princess on tap, good insights. thanks for sharing.
God Speed many prayers…
