I have seen 4 Tallulah Bankhead movies. I have seen TARISHED LADY, LIFEBOAT, STAGE DOOR CANTEEN, and DIE, DIE MY DARLING with LIFEBOAT being easily the best of the four movies I have seen in my opinion.
Hey Greg….”with LIFEBOAT being easily the best of the four movies I have seen in my opinion.”…I just got through typing almost the same comment on my previous comment. What was Donald Sutherland doing in Die Die My Darling. I know his character was mentally challenged…but Sutherland looked like he was playing the Frankenstein monster. Tally count: Greg 4, Flora 3 and Cogerson 2. Good stuff.
I have seen 3 Tallulah Bankhead movies.
Two are favourites: Lifeboat and Faithless.
The other film I have seen is Stage Door Canteen
Hey Flora….thanks for checking out our Tallulah Bankhead page. She was born in the city that WoC grew up in, and the city her family still live in. Tally count: Greg 4, Flora 3 and Cogerson 2. My total just went up yesterday by 100% as I saw my second Bankhead movie…Die! Die! My Darling!. Lifeboat is easily the better of the two that I have seen. Good stuff.
WIKIPEDIA EXTRACT
The first New York production of The Eagle has Two Heads was staged at the Plymouth Theatre on 19 March 1947 with Tallulah Bankhead as the Queen and Helmut Dantine as Stanislas. Bankhead had originally cast twenty-two-year-old Marlon Brando as Stanislas, but their work relationship, according to Brando, was uncomfortable and oppressive, both onstage and off.
After six weeks of frustrating out-of-town tryouts, she fired Brando in New Haven and recast the role with Dantine in time for the Broadway opening.[9] According to Cocteau, Bankhead made her own alterations to the play, and the production was a flop, running only 29 performances
Adaptations
Hey Bob….good find on Brando and Bankhead’s The Eagle Has Two Heads. I think in the end, things worked out better for Brando.
Great UMR Page
Thank you Mike.

Hey Dan…I actually got Die! Die! My Darling today from my local library…..when I watch it tomorrow my tally of Bankhead movies seen, will double to 2. Speaking of Die! Die! My Darling…that movie also features a high ranking Oracle co-star…but I do not see him on your list….Mr. Donald “hey I am in the Top 10” Sutherland. 13 Oscar winning co-stars is good for so few movies.
Bankhead was born in Huntsville, Alabama. That is where WoC’s family lives…..so that fact and the fact that Joel listed her in his book….got her an UMR page. Not thinking many people will be tracking this one down to read. She was a celebrity most of her life, but her movie career is not too stellar. Good stuff as always.
Good catch on Sutherland.
Do you know Donald Sutherland has been in the top 10 on the Oracle of Bacon list on every list down the years.
Hey Dan…..I actually just finished watching Die! Die! My Darling. I have now seen 2 Tallulah Bankhead movies. Sutherland seems to be playing Frankenstein in the movie. Strange movie. I actually did not have Sutherland attached to the movie in our database either….so I should not throw rocks from my glass house…lol.
Good trivia that Sutherland has been in the Top 10 on every list….and he is still going strong. He is one of the few people with over 90 movies in our database….joining Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, Robert DeNiro, Anthony Quinn, Ray Milland and the only actress Myrna Loy. Good stuff as always.
