UMR Review of The Paradine Case (1947)

This was one of the few Alfred Hitchcock directed movies that I had not seen. This is not one of his better movies, which is why many have not even heard of this one. The cast is stellar. Gregory Peck, Charles Coburn and Charles Laughton all shine. Louis Jourdan in one of his first movies is good too. The movie’s pace is dreadfully slow. Peck’s character is supposed to be smart but his actions in the movie seem to point in the other direction. The great twist at the end, lands with a whimper versus a bang. Final thought: Much better Peck, Laughton, Coburn and Hitchcock movies to watch.
