  1. I’m not a huge Tom Cruise fan at all. As some one else posted, I’ve like him less and less as his career goes on. But I have to say, you have written a fantastic hub! Well organized, great charts, photos. Fantastic job of grabbing the readers attention–great job!

As for Tom, it’s a matter of me trying to separate Cruise the actor from Cruise the PR nightmare, I think. I loved Risky Business because I was a young teen when that came out. I also liked Jerry McGuire and Rain Man, but that’s about it.

    1. Thanks for the great compliment CarolineChicago. I am in the same boat about Tom Cruise….I liked the three movies you mentioned and Minority Report….but the rest have been OK at best. I wonder how many got turned off by him and the jumping couch thing on Oprah. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  2. I didn’t even realize he had been in so many movies even though I’ve hears of them all or seen them.I liked him in Risky Business when I was in high school and he was superb in Rain Man! I’ll have to revisit some haven’t seen.

    1. Thank you Realhousewife…..I was in high school as well when Risky Business came out….it was very popular with my high school back then….he has two new movies coming out soon…Mission Impossible 4(I have no interest in that one)….but he also has a movie called Rock of Ages(sounds interesting)…thanks for reading and the compliment.

  3. Well done!!! My favorite Tom Cruise role is when he was jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch….It’s not on your list??? Hmmmmm. I’m a big time Outsiders fan and he played a good supporting role in that movie. Other than that not a fan. UP!!!

  4. Your page has provoked a lot of discussion in our household. It turns out that Tom Cruise is the number one star in our DVD collection here, but he isn’t anyone’s favorite actor. We’re still trying to figure out how that happened. As usual, another great movie page.

    1. Hey BoomerFlicks…..interesting dilemma you have….I would say you have so many Cruise movies….is because all his movies were “event” movies(at least before 2006)..I know I bought Mission Impossible 3….only because it was a great price it’s first week in release….but the DVD was everywhere on sale….you could not miss it even if you wanted to…Cruise is not my favorite either….this is my 51st page….and I finally got around to him….but looking at my DVD collection I have 19 of his movies….he is like a virus…lol….thanks for reading

  5. Hmmm [glances at list] none of his films are in my top 20 or top 50 for that matter, gosh I sound snobby. 🙂

Top Gun was fun, 4th of July was depressing. I did enjoy A Few Good Men but Nicholson had more to do with that than Tom or Demi Moore. Of his recent films I liked Minority Report and War of the Worlds. He does a lot of running in his films and he grins a lot. He made me laugh in Tropic Thunder. I wasn’t impressed with Knight & Day. But I did like the epic Last Samurai…

Wow what a rambling post… but you did miss one interesting titbit Cogerson, Tom’s real name – Thomas Mapother IV. I wonder how far he would have got with that name? 🙂

    1. Hey Steve….yep I do not think Thomas Cruise Mapother IV is a name for the movie marquees…in reading your comments …it sounds like you Mr. Cruise more than you want to admit…it’s ok….he is a very popular actor….lol……I agree with you that Minority Report is a very good movie….to me…much better than War of the Worlds….thanks for reading and commenting

        1. I got the Dog Day Afternoon reference….I had top cheat and look up the French Connection quote…Al and Gene will be done soon…..did you know they made a movie together? It was called Scarecrow…..not the happiest ending a movie has ever had….

          1. Cogerconanson, I saw Scarecrow, not one of my favourites.

I was thinking (I do that sometimes) Tom Cruise appeared with a lot of big stars in his movies, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Duvall, Jack Nicholson, Jon Voight, Paul Newman, Brad Pitt (wink). But he missed two of the biggest, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. He still has time…

          2. Cruise had better find a movie for them quick…Pacino is 71 and De Niro is 67 about to be 68…..I always find it sad to realize that actors are nearing the end….like I do not think there will be anymore Gene Hackman movies…what a shame.
