  1. Hey Bruce just noticed the return of Conanson. Crom!! 🙂

Oh dear now I have to comment on your Tom Hanks hub again… um good actor, won his first Oscar for Bachelor Party I believe?

Kidding amigo, a lovely update, its great what you’ve done with the place.

Let me count the number of films I’ve watched – oh jeez I’ve seen 28 of the 39 films you’ve listed, far too many.

Loved Toy Story, the first one especially.

I still haven’t seen Barry Crowne.

    1. Hey SteveLensman…yep Conanson is back for a little while….my wife wants me to use that Whole Nine Yards photo that you have seen…..but I am thinking something else.

OK you claim you are not a Tom Hanks fan….but seeing 28 out of 29 movies….runs at a pretty solid 72%….I can only imagine how many of his movies you would have seen if you were a fan….I am sitting at 38 movies…with his latest movie Too Long of a Title and Can’t Remember the name of the Movie….left to watch….but it looks depressing but it did get a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

You are correct….Hanks did win his first Oscar for Bachelor Party…it was a performance of the ages.

  2. Cloud Atlas might be an interesting movie for Tom I think. I would go to the cinema for that one I think. I know what you mean about his movies not being events any more but I suppose it happens to most stars in time.

    1. Hey jools99….well he just turned 56 in July….so he is getting up there in age….and it has been almost 20 years since his back to back Oscar wins…so I think his run has been awesome but like you said…it comes to an end for all actors…..unless an abrupt end comes to them like Heath Ledger or James Dean.

Cloud Atlas might be a good movie….but I am wagering that the general public will not be interested in probably a very confusing movie….I hope I am wrong…..but that 6 minute trailer looks very very confusing.

  3. It’s hard for me to say which of his movies is my favorite, but I think it would have to be Forest Gump, I loved all his movies. He is great! This was a wonderful page about one of my faves.

    1. Hey mary615….I love Forrest Gump too….I have noticed that many people do not like the movie….which I find very surprising. The movie had humor, drama, action….made a ton of money….won a ton of Oscars…and became a cultural event….what more could a movie do? Thanks for the comment and the visit it is greatly appreciated.

  4. Tom Hanks is a giant in the film industry and one of my favorites! Although bored with Charlie Wilson’s War and Castaway, I have to admire how well he played the roles. The Green Mile and Forrest Gump are movies I’ve watched multiple times and can never tire seeing again. Thanks for offering this detailed look at this film icon!

    1. Hey rcrumple…..the physical change he did for Castaway is one of the most impressive things done on film….with DeNiro in Raging Bull and Bale for the Machinist….here is some trivia for you….did you know that they filled the first half of Castaway(when Hanks was heavier) shut down production….Hanks went on a diet for the second half of the film…..while he was dieting…the film crew filmed the Harrison Ford film What Lies Beneath…then returned to finish Castaway except now Hanks was a skinny man.

  5. Holy catfish, Batman….I scrolled thru the comments believing that surely I had commented on this older page. Surprise…..how the heck did I miss this?

Tom Hanks is way up there at the top of my list. I cannot think of a single movie he’s been in where he wasn’t spectacular. I will say that I prefer him in the comedies over drama. He’s just too damned funny. Who didn’t LOVE Turner and Hooch? If you like Tom and you also happen to be a dog lover….it’s the perfect film.

No problem believing Forest Gump is #1…….of course!

    1. Hey fpherj48….I forgive you for finally responding to my Tom Hanks page…but it was worth the wait. I loved Turner and Hooch except for the sad ending. It looks like many people prefer the comedic Hanks to the serious Hanks….but his two Oscars show lots of people like the dramas as well. I think his best role might have been Nothing in Common as it has comedy and drama in one movie…..and it gave us Jackie Gleason’s last great role….thanks for the comment and such nice words.
