just saw “Sully’ on Saturday & terrific (***1/2-out of four) but very low key
Hey Spencer….I enjoyed Sully as well….not really rooting for Tom Hanks to get another Oscar nomination. I also really enjoyed Aaron Eckhart in a supporting role. Thanks for the mini-review.

Hey Dan…..well the first movie that jumped out at me was Elvis Has Left The Building….which is the movie that Hanks played the Mailbox Elvis….I remember when I saw that movie it was a great surprise when he briefly showed up.
Only 25…..I figured it would be higher……I wonder if Bruce Willis has Hanks beat….probably not. 4 from Philadelphia…..I probably need to watch that one again. Thanks for sharing this information.

yep….28…I missed typed that.
I worked with Clint on Sully and one of the highlights of my acting career. His directing style is like no other, organized, calm, quiet, no nonsense, less is definitely more on the number of takes he shot. He knows what he wants and when he gets it he’s moving on.
hat is awesome Josh Mowery headed to see the movie in less than an hour. Great to know the shooting experience was awesome too. It was an excellent movie. Gotta ask which part or scenes were you in? I will find you when I buy this on Blu-Ray….because I will be buying it for my collection.
Tom Hanks, since Forrest Gump is one of the most poular american actor. Saving Private Ryan is my favorite 2nd war film. I’ve seen 19 movies of movies of the list.
Hey Laurent….just saw and loved Sully….very well done. Eastwood does a great job of telling a story that only lasted 208 seconds….highly recommend it. 39 is pretty good….I am a huge Hanks fan….my tally is 44….including seeing 18 of them at theaters. The only two I have missed are He Knows You Are Alone (currently on You Tube) and Hologram For A King. I have been really busy….but I will soon send you my 1970s box office….which means you will have almost all of my rental numbers….the ones you are missing are the ones I did after sending that decades rentals.
Yes Sully looked good. Sadly it will be released only on november 30th. Welcolme in the 80’s…
With my 1970’s numbers, you will have all my US rentals lol.
I read you ‘ll find the Warner ledger during your trip to Las Vegas. Is it the complete ledger (all Warner movies between1922 to 1967) or an extract containing the top by years plus few important movies for each years between 1922 to 1951 ? 412 movies in all. Because, in that case I have this, and I can give you if you want. That way you can thoroughly enjoy your stay in Las Vegas.
Hey Laurent….sorry with the website having so many issues lately…I have not had time to send you the 1970s rentals…..but I have not forgotten. As for the ledgers…..I would appreciate those 412 numbers…..I requested all they had…..what I actually get I will not know until the 23rd when I get there. I am currently working on a spreadsheet to take that will allow me to quickly transfer the numbers from the ledgers to me…this is requiring me to list every Warner movie made from 1922 to 1951….those 412 movies would be awesome to have already filled out on the spreadsheet….and all I would have to do is verify the number with the actual ledger. Thanks for all of the help in our rental exchange.
Hello Bruce,
Thanks to you for the exchange. I sent you the file for the Warner Ledger. I’ll translate 1970’s movies title and I’ll send you the file soon.
Hey Laurent….I just sent you a 1100 plus movie file for movies from 1970 to 1980. Thanks for sending me your Warner Brothers stats. This time next week I will be in Los Angeles
I see you’ve updated Tom Hanks with his latest film, Sally, sorry make that, Sully.
I was just reading my previous comment… I still haven’t seen Barry Crowne or Saving Mary Poppins. As you know I’m not the biggest Tom Hanks fan in England and I recently asked you via email if anyone’s watched Forrest Gump again since it came out. 😉
Okay an update I’ve seen 32 of the 41 films listed, not bad for a not-much-of-a-fan eh?
And there’s a new Tom Hanks film coming out next month – Inferno – the sequel to the sequel of The Da Vinci Code. I’m not interested in Sully but that might be worth a look.
Voted Up!
Hey Steve…well I think you view Hanks the way I view George Clooney….not a huge fan of his…..but I seem to watch almost everything he does. 32 is pretty stout…I am at 39…..but I am a huge fan. I have not seen He Knows You Are Alone or Hologram For A King. He Knows You Are Alone is currently on You Tube…I watched about 10 minutes of it the other day….did not even get to the Hanks part. As I wrote in my return Clint comment…Sully is a pretty good movie. Though I have now come up with a life lesson to share with my kids. “If you find yourself on a mode of transportation and Tom Hanks is the captain of the that vehicle….get off immediately!”. After Apollo 13, Captain Phillips and Sully….not thinking he is going to get another captain’s seat anytime soon. Thanks for the visit and the comment.
I purchased Forest Gump and The Green Mile at a local store for $2.74 each. What a bargain. I watched FG once, will watch again. I have watched TGM four times since July 16, and each time I notice something new. I especially like the music in TGM (Thomas Newman) and want to re-watch other Newman-scored movies. Tom Hanks recently said in an interview he “turns on the charm” when confronted with an uncomfortable situation. Maybe that is why he is so likeable.
Hey Margaret…sounds like you got a great deal. Newman is a good one for sure. Sounds like Hanks has a great philosophy….thanks for the comment and the visit.
