Need to know which Tony Scott movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.
When I awoke this morning I was sadden to see the news that movie director Tony Scott (1944-2012) had passed away. On Sunday, August 19th, 2012 he jumped from a bridge and ended his life. To quote Ron Howard on Twitter August 20th, 2012….”No more Tony Scott movies. Tragic day”. For many months now I have been thinking about doing a movie page on his older brother, Ridley. However after checking out Tony’s career I was amazed to see that 15 of his 16 movies were already in my database and that I had seen every single one of his movies at least once. So I figured I would do a very quick tribute to one of the best action director over the last 30 years.
Tony Scott directed 16 movies from 1983 to 2010. His films were filled with lots of action and lots of movie stars. He worked 5 times with Denzel Washington, 2 times with Gene Hackman, 2 times with Tom Cruise, 2 times with Brad Pitt, and one time with the following actors….Bruce Willis, Will Smith, Robert Redford, Robert DeNiro, Dennis Hopper, Eddie Murphy, Kevin Costner and John Travolta….not a bad collection of actors in his 16 movies. This page will rank those 16 Tony Scott movies from Best to Worst in seven different sortable columns of information.

I knew of Ridley Scott, but I never knew about his equally talented brother, Tony. I was even more surprised when I saw a list of his movies and noticed that about 90% were personal favorites of mine. True Romance, Top Gun, Crimson Tide and Man on Fire are some of the best movies ever made. I hope Tony Scott is able to rest in heaven and he will be missed.
Hey Angela Kane….thanks for the visit to my Tony Scott tribute…..I knew Tony and Ridley were brothers…but I did not know that Tony was the baby of the family…I always thought he was older. Ridley might cast a large shadow…but Tony did pretty well too. I am right there with you about True Romance….his best ….great story and what a cast.
Hi Bruce; I’m not really a Tony Scott fan and I never really particularly cared for any of his films (although I did like “Beverly Hills Cops 2”) but its sad to hear that he died.

Hey Rob….glad to hear from you. Tony Scott’s style was very unusual. I liked it in most of his movies. But I can see why people might not like his movies….Domino is a very difficult movie to watch….and all of those quick edits give some people headaches. As for Beverly Hills Cop 2….I had forgotten he had directed that movie until I did this tribute page…but it was one of his biggest hits. Thanks for stopping by.
Great words and great tribute to a great director, timely share, thanks,

wow that was an interesting read..im not really into movies but i am amazed by your page..it’s great
Hey unknown spy …I greatly appreciate the comment especially since you are not a huge movie fan…..so I am even more happy that you were able to get something out of this movie page.
Great article. I totally forgot that he directed The Last Boyscout. I actually liked that film. It was the epitome of what a 90’s action film should be since it was written by Iron Man 3’s Shane Black. I have to say that two of my favorite films that Tony Scott directed have to be Man on Fire and Top Gun. Man on Fire was just a brutal revenge movie that you really felt for Creasy and wanted him to go all out on the people involved with Pita’s kidnapping. Top Gun was one of the movies that made all young boys want to become a fighter pilot and have dog fights. Tony Scott has made some really great films and he will be missed amongst his fans. Condolences to the Scott Family.
Hey Thefilmguy24…..I agree with you about The Last Boy Scout “epitome of what a 90’s action film should be”….I thought Willis and Wayans made a good team…..too bad they did not make a sequel. I have rewatched Man on Fire in the last few days….and it was even better than before….but a little sad knowing the reason I picked it to watch…thanks for the comment and the visit.
