  1. Tyrone Power came from my hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio and , when I was a kid, the five major television stations in town showed quite a few of his films as part of their “afternoon movie” shows. I have seen 23 Tyrone Power movies. The HIGHEST ranked movie I have seen is ALEXANDER’S RAGTIME BAND. The LOWEST ranked movie I have seen is DAYTIME WIFE. The highest ranked movie HAVEN’T seen is THE BLACK SWAN. Favorites include THE EDDY DUCHIN STORY, THE SUN ALSO RISES, WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION, JESSE JAMES, A YANK IN THE RAF, NIGHTMARE ALLEY, BRIGHAM YOUNG, THE MARK OF ZORRO, THIS ABOVE ALL, IN OLD CHICAGO, ALEXANDER’S RAGTIME BAND, and LLOYD’S OF LONDON. Other Tyrone Power movies I have seen include LADIES IN LOVE, LOVE IS NEWS, MARIE ANTIONETTE, SUEZ, ROSE OF WASHINGTON SQUARE, DAYTIME WIFE, THE RAZOR’S EDGE, PRINCE OF FOXES, RAWHIDE, THE LONG GRAY LINE, and UNTAMED. I know many film historians consider NIGHTMARE ALLEY to be Tyrone’s best performance. I always considered his performance in the underrated A YANK IN THE RAF to be his best and he should have won an Oscar for it in my opinion. He also deserved Oscar nominations for his performances in THIS ABOVE ALL and NIGHTMARE ALLEY as well. He was a major box office draw throughout his career and he had the talent to back it up. Period. End Of Story.

    1. Hey Greg…great comment on Tyrone Power. Interesting to know that he and you are both from Cincy. I agree with you about his box office power….he along with Judy Garland are the two people when researching that really blew me away with all of their box office success. 23 Tyrone Power movies is pretty stout. Good points on Nightmare Alley and A Yank in the RAF…I liked both of those movies. Good stuff!

  2. why is Tyrone in your 50 greatest movie stars but not in the online top 100 list which has James Dean at .92 billion. Tyrone’s adjusted box office was 7.2 billion which puts him between Cary Grant and Myrna Loy. So why isn’t he there? In your book he is #25. Why are so many of the same names in your book and he is left off this list?

    1. Hey Joan….my book did not factor in the AFI legends list….The Top 100 list on the website…used the 50 the AFI picked….and 50 stars of the modern era. AFI did not list Power….when their initial list came out….a bad miss in my thoughts. Sorry for the confusion.

    1. You are welcome….this is assuming that TYSM means Thank You So Much. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Power had 3 children, his daughters Romina and Taryn with his second wife, Linda Christian, and his son Tyrone jr. by his third/last wife, Debbie Minardos. He also adopted his first wife’s (Annabella) daughter Anne – but Anne never became an actress…
There might have been at least one child born out of wedlock, possibly even more considering Tyrone’s promiscuity throughout his life.

    1. Hey Angela N. Thanks for the visit and the heads up on his personal life. Tweaked some of the possibly interesting facts to include your thoughts. Thank you.
