  1. HI BRUCE, I have seen 11 of Vigo’s movies in the above table and the two in which I most enjoyed his performance are A Perfect Murder and A History of Violence.

Watching the latter film reminded me of both one of your idols and one of mine. I thought the role that he played could easily have been written for H o Demi though they probably would have had to insert a lot more swear words into the script!

Also, Ed Harris [especially when he had hair/more hair!] has always appeared to me to be a bit similar to Richard Widmark in appearance and even low-key acting style – but maybe idolaters such as I like to think they see their own movie idols everywhere!

IMDB credits Viggo with 38 acting awards and 115 nominations and he has a reported net worth of $30 million. He is one of the modern actors who have really impressed me, so I welcome your new page with a “Vote Up!”

  2. Viggo is # 623 on the December 15, 2018 Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list. These are the other actors in the top 1000 he has appeared with.

    1. Hey Dan. As always thanks for the trivia lists for our latest subject. 623? I bet that number has been going down…especially since he seems much more picky about his roles as he gets older. I did not realize that Green Book was his only movie since Captain Fantastic. That is back to back roles that earned him an Oscar nomination. Makes me wonder what he is going to do to follow that up. Although I think Green Book will give him more “buzz” than Captain Fantastic did.

Lord of the Rings movies are well represented in the first list. C. Thomas Howell in the Top 700? Seems his heyday, and last movies I know, where over 30 years ago. Howell, at one point was voted by movie owners as a “sure fire box office star of the future”…..don’t think that worked out.

On the Oscar list….the little know The Portrait of a Lady has almost 20% of his Oscar winning co-stars. I find that very interesting….especially since that is one of the few Christian Bale movies that I have not seen. Good stuff as always.

  3. Aloha from Brexitland! I’ve seen 20 of the 37 films on the chart, more than I thought.

Favorites include – Lord of the Rings trilogy, Carlito’s Way, Witness, Crimson Tide, Young Guns II, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises and Green Book.

I enjoyed Green Book a lot recently and I was happy to see it win Best Picture at the Oscars, a surprise win. I don’t think anyone saw it coming. All the recent Best Picture winners have been surprises – The Shape of Water – Moonlight – Spotlight. I think Birdman was the last real ‘favorite’ to win the big one 4 years ago.

Viggo was perfect as the rightful King of Gondor in the Lord of the Rings. So glad Peter Jackson’s first choice, Stuart Townsend, didn’t work out and they had to recast.

Bruce, my favorite of the ‘Rings’ trilogy is the first one – Fellowship of the Ring. But they’re all stunning achievements, critically acclaimed and hugely successful.

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve
      1. Sounds like your country is having a real “fun” time trying to figure out what to do with your exit plan…..so in a nutshell….the finish line is now June?
      2. If June is indeed your next deadline….good news especially if that means that you will probably still have power and access to the all powerful internet till then….lol. I say this last comment….only because I recently read somebody claiming if a certain vote did not stop the exit…than England would go into complete chaos….which could include power outages throughout your country…..it makes us dealing with all the Trump turmoil seem not so bad.
      3. Ok…enough about politics….let’s talk movies. 20 seen….we are really close…as I have seen 22. I am actually disappointed in my total…usually I have a higher % when it comes to recent actors.
      4. As for Green Book’s win….I think Steven Spielberg’s influence got that surprise win. His stance on Roma and NetFlixx seems outdated. Seems he wants things to say the same…..the streaming world is coming…..and nothing is going to stop it.
      5. Of your favorites….right there with you on most of them…the only one I have reservations on is Eastern Promises…after A History of Violence….maybe my expectations were too high for that one….I still liked it….just did not love it.
      6. As for the LOR trilogy…seen all three numerous times…including the epic director cuts (that feature even more walking…lol)…but give me The Two Towers. This is how you make a second movie in a trilogy! I recently saw the second Fantastic Beasts movie….did anything happen in the movie other than the movie earning over $600 million in worldwide box office. Seems it ended the same way part 1 did, with almost nothing happening.
      Good stuff as always.

  4. Hey bob cox….thanks for the input on our Viggo page. I have seen 22 of his movies…actually lower than I would have guessed. It looks like he has a high percentage of “10s, 9s & 8s) for the 10 Viggo movies you have seen…70%…..maybe you should see more of his movies….lol.

My favorites would include Green Book (loved the movie and his performance), A History of Violence (despite the brutal violence), L.O.R. The Two Towers (I like the other parts….but this is my favorite), and Witness….though he is hardly the reason I like the movie so much. Good stuff.

  5. I saw 10, including top 5. 10s and favorites: all 3 LOTR, witness. 9: crimson tide. hidden gem: hidalgo 8 , the road 8(very dark).
