RIP Wilford Brimley.
I watched Cocoon fairly recently noting that Brimley was the only one still alive of the senior citizens in the film. He was only 50 when filming began.
I’ve seen 10 of the 35 films on the chart, favorites are – Cocoon 1-2, The Thing, The Firm, Remo and The China Syndrome.
I saw The Natural just once a long time ago, it might be worth another look.

Quite Simply I loved Wilfred as a character actor especially in The Natural and Absence of Malice. In the latter he had a great one-liner that I will never forget. He has been appointed to conduct an enquiry into mishandling of government affairs coupled with controversial/misleading newspaper articles and carrying his briefcase and glaring agressively around him he walks into the room where the potential culprits are all gathered.
He gives them a short speech on his remit there and concludes by saying “And let me tell you that when I leave this room again I’m going to be carrying with me someone’s a** in this bag!” pointing to the briefcase as he speaks.
Wilford appeared in some 23 television productions [1974-2011] according to Wikipedia; and Celebrity Net Worth site says he has left behind a net fortune of $8 million. He had been lined up for a mystery drama called Cellophane in which he was to co-star with Joanne Whalley. It is at pre-production stage. He was a close friend of Robert Duvall [See also Cogerson Possibly Interesting Fact No 4 above.]
