Zoe Saldana (1978-) is an American actress and dancer.  I remember how amazed I was when Harrison Ford was Han Solo and Indiana Jones at the same time.  Well, Zoe Saldana has Han Jones beat because she has 3 major movie characters going at the same time.  Saldana plays Uhura in the Star Trek movies, Gamora in the Guardian of the Galaxy movies, and Neytiri in the Avatar movies.  Her IMDb page shows over 55 acting credits since 1999.   1. I couldn’t help noticing in the opening quote in your Zoe video that she is the second of your recent female subjects to boast publicly about “loving sex”. Back in the distant days of my Joan and The Thin Woman the females weren’t allowed to express their emotions to that extent even on the screen.

    Crawford for example had always to emphasize that she was “in love” because the likes of Gable was simply just a lovable and admirable person; and Thins always looked to me as if she longed to be Al Leach’s mother rather than his lover.

    I hope you enjoy your break and come back to us not just refreshed but healthy so keep safe. It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good as the saying goes and I’ll bet you’ll just love wearing a mask and fantasizing that you’re now part of the Justice League.

    Who knows: maybe you’ll get even luckier and Boris will decide that we’ll be even more protected from the virus if we wear capes as well!

  2. HI STEVE: Thanks for the usual carefully thought-out reply complete with additional information and quotes. My additional comments are:

    /Zoe [in talking about actors having no control on set] has obviously never been in a Brando/DeNiro movie. According to Edward Norton those two took over the direction of the Score in 2001 and side-lined the director Frank Oz which obviously caused as lot of grief and friction on the set.

    For example apparently The Great Mumbler turned up naked before the cameras for the day’s shooting one morning just to show Frank who was boss and ultimately Marlon allowed Oz to communicate with him only through DeNiro. “I kept out of it all and let the two Legends get on with it.” Said Norton.

    Interesting are Zoe’s thoughts on the “perfect guy”. Let’s see whom I would choose to make up such a composite. You’re a big guy I understand so maybe you could provide the muscles.

    However Zoe says a Jason-type isn’t enough for her so Bruce would obviously have the brains that she demands [when The Thin Woman and Mr Gimme More don’t lure him into forgetting to use them]. As for the “bad boy and the geek” – how about Joel?

  5. 1/On top of her extensive film career Wikipedia gives details of Zoe’s involvement in (1) a Star trek Video Game (2) a Guardians of Galaxy theme park attraction (3) 5 television productions including the mini-series Rosemary’s Baby with Zoe as the famous Rosemary from the big screen with one of the differences being that the miniseries is set in Paris instead of New York.

    2/IMDB credits Zoe with 16 acting awards and 61 nominations and she has a current reported net worth of $35 million.

    3/Zoe is currently shooting back-to-back Avatar 2 and 3 for scheduled release in the somewhat distant 2022 and 2024. Others among Steve Lensman’s old chums who are involved are Sigourney Weaver/Sam Worthington/Stephen Lang.

    4/With the likes of Zoe/Jennifer Lawrence/Scarlet Johannsson all currently tantalizing Steve as action icons-not forgetting Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn-it seems that the shapely ladies are putting the screen’s old muscle-bound tough guys in the shade in the action stakes.       Zoe has been a very lucky girl, she’s been in some huge franchises and one of the leading ladies in three of the biggest grossing films ever. And we’d never even heard of her 20 years ago.

      Zoe has portrayed (in motion capture) the blue-skinned alien Neytiri in Avatar and it’s upcoming sequels, the green-skinned alien Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy series which merged successfully with The Avengers recently. Plus she has played Lt. Uhura in the rebooted Star Trek movies.

      There are no films scoring 10 out of 10 in Zoe’s filmography, four have scored 9 – Star Trek, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame.

      Infinity War tops IMDB charts and Endgame is no.1 at Rotten Tomatoes.
